Intellectual Property Law is a legal discipline that includes legal regulations regarding intellectual and industrial property rights. Intellectual and Artistic Works Law, on the other hand, includes legal regulations regarding intellectual and artistic works, especially intellectual property, which is also known as copyright among the public, which is also the main field of study of Intellectual Property Law. The Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works No. 5846 is the main legal basis of the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works.

Copyrights are among the rights that have been guaranteed by legal norms from past to present. Copyrights, which are subject to many domestic law regulations, are also protected by various international agreements to which Turkey is a party. Copyright is a right that provides material and moral rights to its owner with its birth and does not require registration as a rule. Every work is not subject to copyright and therefore Intellectual and Artistic Works Law. Copyright exists only in works that are under the jurisdiction of the legislator.

The Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works (FSEK) was adopted on 5 December 1951 and entered into force on 13 December 1951. This law, which is the main legal basis of the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works, is still in effect. Law; guarantees the rights arising from works of science, music, literature, fine arts and cinema. In this context, those concerned have material and moral authority due to their works. In case of violation of the work, material and moral compensation rights arise.
